For sure you have used a file before, but did you know that there was trade specializing in making those very useful tools?
Bruno Bannert is still doing it and probably truly the last one of his trade. His shop is close to Chemnitz in Eastern Germany, the former German Democratic Republic. Quality tools for private use were hard to come by in GDR times and this may well be the reason why he persisted, contrary to all his colleagues from the West.
He employs techniques which were used hundreds of years ago to make a blunt file sharp again. Apparently an odd thing to do since files have become a throw-away item.
