Who would actually know that this trade even existed? The wood tub maker. Very few at best, this old, almost archaic trade is almost forgotten. Still, there is one person who learned the trade as an apprentice and is practicing it as the "last one of his trade": Karl Sonnemann was born in 1912 and lives in Sehlde, Germany.
He is making a pig trough from a large split poplar trunk for the local farmers who still butcher their pigs right on the farm. The technique he uses will surprise you. We also learn about a secret: A very well known and highly respected artist once commissioned a sculpture to be carved by Karl Sonnemann..
